We all need to give a big shout out and THANK YOU to Congressman Benishek and Senator Levin for their leadership on legislation that will mark the Sleeping Bear Dunes as Wilderness under the National Wilderness Preservation System. The bill has just passed the U.S. House, and was passed by the Senate last year, which means it will soon be on the desk of the President for signature.

Sleeping Bear Dunes touches over 35 miles of Lake Michigan in Michigan’s lower peninsula. It has been five years since Congress has designated wildness area, so this is a big win for Michigan and the Great Lakes.
